Minthostachys verticillata (pepper mint)
Minthostachys verticillata, commonly known as peperina,
(do not get confused with Pudina which we use in Indian culinary) is the only species of the genus Minthostachys known from Argentina. It occurs in the northwestern and central regions of the country. It may be the most economically important species of its genus, as it is collected extensively for its essential oils. These have been repeatedly examined for their composition, variability, and possible pharmacological effects. Due to varying views on the circumscription of species, the species is sometimes subsumed with others under the catch-all name Minthostachys mollis.
It took lot of time to recognise the exact name and specifications about this plant but it helped me much to know it's uses and bad effects.
Though it is a medicinal plant but consuming too much can cause serious low blood pressure, it's good for person who is having high blood pressure but again suggestion is please ask for doses before using as had experienced few drastic changes in body during its consumption in tea form, doses were observed carefully each time.
Another use of this plant is it's a pest repellent for few insects. No doubt it has a good smell finally conclusion is every coin has two sides so while selecting plants for garden study it's uses, taxonomy and specifications take an experience before suggesting.
At the end there are some limitations which one needs time to study. Experience matters the most.
